SUMO (Simulation of Urban Mobility)

SUMO is an open source simulator and the SUMO stands for Simulation of Urban MObility. This simulation tool is used for microscopic simulations aimed for analysis of large networks. The behavior of the vehicles in a traffic can also be observed in SUMO simulator.
Eclipse Foundation project

SUMO simulator is a well known, open source traffic simulator which allows the modelling of large traffic networks such as roads, vehicles of different types, pedestrians.

SUMO can be used for evaluating and analysis of different applications such as automated/autonomous driving functions of interconnected vehicles such as platooning. It is also possible to incorporate other simulators with SUMO for realizing a complete simulation environment.

One such simulation framework which can be integrated with SUMO is Veins_INET which offers realistic communication models of the interconnected vehicles. With this set of integrated simulation environment it is possible to evaluate and analyze the effects on autonomous vehicles in a platoons, where one or several vehicles are under attack by a malicious actor.
